3.4.    BOOTING- COLD BOOTING AND WARM BOOTING
3.4.1. LOGGING ON

Logging on means to switch the computer on. You can log on by pressing the power button on the monitor and the system unit. There are two types of booting namely,
3.4.1. a.  Cool booting
3.4.1. b. warm booting

3.4.1 a. Cool booting

Booting is the transition period between the time the computer is switched on and when it starts normal operations. During this period, the computer system is being checked for consistency and correctness. Once this checking is over, the computer is now ready for operation. This type of booting is referred to as cool booting.

3.4.1. b.  Warm booting

While warm booting is the transition between restarting your computer system and when the system is ready for operation.

3.4.2. LOGGING OFF-SHUTTING DOWN

Shutting down means to exit all programs and close the computer. This can be employed by the following processes:

 Step 1

Place the mouse pointer on the start menu button. A start menu as in the picture below will appear.

Step 2

Scroll to “Turn off computer” command at the base of the start menu, and then left click. A pop-up menu bearing options- “stand-by”, “turn off” and “restart” will appear on your desk top.
Place your mouse pointer on the “Turnoff” option (Your mouse pointer will change to a hand). Then left click. This command will turn off the computer.
