FUNDAMENTAL OPERATIONS OF COMPUTERS

3.3.1. PARTS OF A DESK TOP

Basically, a desk top consists of the following parts:
3.3.1.1. Screen- Desktop Icons
3.3.1.2. Cursor
3.3.1.3. Task bar

3.3.1.1. Screen- Desktop Icons

Icons are items found on the computer window. These items may be folders, applications, programs etc. Some of the icons on the computer window are:
a.       My Computer
b.       My Documents
c.       Internet Explorer
d.       Recycle Bin

3.3.1.1. a. My Computer

My computer is represented by computer-like icon on the desktop.  The folder is use for storing of applications/programs files and documents.

3.3.1.1. b. My Documents

My document icon is a yellow- file/folder-like icon on your desk top.  The folder is use for storing files and documents

3.3.1.1. c. Internet Explorer

Internet explorer icon is a blue e-like structure situated on the desk top.  The application is use for browsing the internet

3.3.1.1. d. Recycle Bin

This could be likened to a Dust bin of the computer. It is used for storing deleted documents, files, or folders are stored.

3.3.1.2. Cursor

Cursor is an arrow or bar like icon (structure) that appears on your screen. The icon is use for navigating the computer. Below are the different shapes of the cursor.
