CHAPTER TWO

COMPUTERS ETHICS AND HUMAN ISSUES 1

1.       Use an anti glare. Antiglare is a plastic screen placed in front of monitors to prevent the reflection of radiation. Below is the picture of Anti glare.

2.       Keep your face 20 inches away from your computer monitor.
3.       Use a flat panel display rather than a CRT monitor. A CRT monitor is one that includes a cathode ray tube.

2.6.4.2.       The seating posture

To ensure safety while using the computer, it is recommended that chairs with adjustable height and back-rest should be used. Be sure to sit all the way back in your chair. Your knees should be lower than or at the same level as your hips. Keep your feet supported.

2.6.4.3.       Positioning of monitor base

Placement monitor at an arm's length away from you at eye level (you should not have to tilt your head in any way to see the screen). Keep your keyboard and mouse close together and within close reach. Center your keyboard in front of you.

2.6.4.4.       Typing

Typing technique - Your arms should "float" over your keyboard - your wrists/palms should not be resting on the desktop or even on a wrist rest (unless you are breaking between typing spurts). Keep your wrists straight and hands relaxed (this is true when using your pointing device, as well). Hit the keys lightly.

2.6.4.5.       Breaks and exercise

It is important to take lots of breaks. During these breaks do some exercises- some stretches.

EXERCISE

1.       Define computer ethics
2.       List computer organizations
3.       Identify ways of misusing the internet
4.       List responsible ways of using computer and internet
5.       List some of hazards associated with the use of computers.
6.       Discuss the safety measures that you will employ in course of using the computer.
7.       What is meant by RSI?
