2.6. SAFETY MEASURES

Daily or frequent use of computers and the internet is associated with certain health problems, which could be detrimental to the user. To reduce or avoid these health problems, there is the need to employ certain basic safety measures. Some of the safety measures employ are:
2.6.1. Illuminating the room
2.6.2. Maintaining a dust free environment
2.6.3. Keep liquids away from computers
2.6.4. Prevent RSI (Repeated Strain Injury)

2.6.1. Illuminating the room

The computer room should have windows fitted with non reflective blinds. The blinds should also be fairly dark.

2.6.2. Maintaining a dust free environment

The computers should be cleaned daily to prevent the accumulation of dust on them.

2.6.3. Keep liquids away from computers

Liquids, food, drinks should be avoided from computer rooms.

2.6.4. Prevent Repeated Strain injury (RSI)

RSI stands for Repeated Strain Injury. RSI is a disorder developed as the result of repeated and continuous use of the computer. For instance, you may spend several hours seated while using the computer. This situation exposes you to hazardous radiation and as well over stretching the muscles of your hands, legs and the eyes. Such situation may result to RSI. Parts of the body most affected are the eyes, the muscles and the neck. To avoid developing RSI you should employ the following strategies:

2.6.4.1.       Using the antiglare protector

Glare is the reflective light that comes from the surfaces of computer screens. Such light may cause injuries to the eyes. To prevent developing eye injuries while using the computer   employ the following strategies:
