4.1.1.1. Parts and keys of the keyboard

A computer keyboard comprises alphanumeric or character keys for typing, modifier keys for altering the functions of other keys, navigation keys for moving the text cursor on the screen, function keys and system command keys – such as Esc and Break– for special actions, and often a numeric keypad to facilitate calculations.
The keyboard comprised of basically five parts, namely-

  1. The function keys
  2. The numeric keys
  3. The home keys
  4. Top row keys
  5. Bottom row keys
  6. Space bar
  7. Shift key
  8. Enter key
  9. Escape key
  10. Control key
  11. Alternate key
  12. Caps key
  13. Num Lock and numeric key

    The function keys are the first keys situated on the first row of the key board. There are twelve of them (F1 to F12 ). Below is the picture of the functions keys.
