By the end of this unit the students should be able to:
1. List the components of a computer system
a. In put devices
b. Describe the functions of the keyboard
c. Describe the functions of the mouse
d. State the differences between the keyboard and the mouse

UNIT ONE- INPUT DEVICES

4.1. WHAT ARE INPUT DEVICES?

Input devices are instruments used for sending or putting data or information into the computer. These instruments can be linked to the computer through a wire or wireless (radiation) connection. Examples of input devices are:

4.1.2. Mouse
4.1.3. Joystick
4.1.4. Touch pad
4.1.5. Microphone
4.1.6. Digital camera
4.1.7. Scanner
4.1.8. Light pen
4.1.9. Touch screen
4.1.10. Web cam
4.1.11. Bar code scanner
4.1.12. Magnetic Ink Character Recognition
4.1.13. Optical Mark Recognition (OMR)
4.1.14. Point of Sale (POS)

4.1.1. KEYBOARD

The keyboard is rectangular gadget used for sending/inserting data/information into the computer. It contains buttons with alphabets, figures and symbols which are used to type in commands.
