PHARYNX/LARYNX

1. Pharyngeal cavity

The pharyngeal cavity is the funnel-shaped structure called the throat. It is made up of skeletal muscles, lined with mucus membrane. The pharynx also receives the auditory lobe from the ear.
The main functions of the pharynx is the passage of air and food.

2. Larynx

The larynx is made up of cartilages and comprised of the following tissues:

  1. Epiglottis- Closes the pharynx while swallowing food.
  2. Thyroid cartilage( Thyroid gland)
  3. Two pairs of vocal cords- Helps in voice.
