    6.1. SYSTEM UNIT

The system unit is the box-like structure which housed the most of the components of the computer such as the motherboard, CPU, Power pack etc. This component can be likened to the skeletal system of animals.

Motherboard
A computer motherboard, also known as mainboard or system board, is the single largest and most important printed circuit board in the computer. The motherboard is the board on which most components of the computer system such as the CPU, Memory,  etc are fixed.

CPU

CPU stands for Central Processing Unit, a microprocessor that does all the calculations and computations of what you see, hear and do on a computer. The CPU is also sometimes called the brain of a computer. Indeed, without this 'brain', the computer will not work.
