ENDOCRINE GLANDS- THE THYMUS

1. Pineal Gland

The pineal gland, near the upper portion of the thalamus, secretes melatonin, which is involved in the regulation of circadian rhythms of the body.

2. Thymus Gland

The thymus gland, lying between the lungs under the sternum, secretes thymosins that affect production and differentiation of T lymphocytes that are important in immunity.

3. Reproductive Glands

The reproductive organs are two namely:

  1. Ovaries
  2. Placenta
  3. Testes

1. The Ovaries

The ovaries produce two hormones:

1. Estrogen
2. Progesterone.

2. Placenta

The placenta produces three hormones:

i. Estrogen
ii. Progesterone
iii. Gonadotropin

3. Testes

The testes produce testosterone.
