15.1.4. COMPUTERS IN SECURITY

The law enforcement agents- the police, army, navy and other security agents use computers to:

  1. Monitor (using surveillance digital video cameras and computers) and track down criminals in communities.
  2. Detect frauds and criminal activities in private and public establishments' banks, schools, business stores etc.
  3. Conduct finger print test, DNA test to detect criminals

15.1.5. COMPUTERS IN LAW/JUDICIARY

Lawyers use computers to:

  1. Prepare statements, judgments in courts
  2. Keep records of court proceedings.

15.1.6. COMPUTERS IN GOVERNANCE

Government officials use computers for:

  1. Planning, monitoring and evaluation of government programs.
  2. Keep records of the activities/programs, service records, data, salaries of employees of ministries.
  3. Prepare salaries of their staff
  4. E-government- E-government is the art of using the internet to administer a ministry, an organization, state or country. Some government officials used computers (internet) to run the affairs of their ministries, states or countries. This means they can be in England and still communicate with their commissioners, or ministers of their states or country via e-mail or on line conference/chatting.
  5. Automated Office. An automated office is an office that uses computers, printers, telephone, scanners, faxing machines, back up facilities etc and other electronic gadgets to perform the act of governance- run an office. That means most of the works in an automated office are performed by machines.
